On the article QuikTrip Gains Preliminary Approval Amid Residential Opposition

I like your observations Jeff. I would like to see the projections of an independent agency that is qualified to predict, given CVS and QT, what "would" the traffic affect most likely be. For people qualified in this field, I'm guessing they could do the sort of number crunching your alluding to, to give a certified, third party report on "what ARE we in for?" I would like to know! It would greatly affect my opinion of QT moving to this location. AND i agree, I hope the city council makes an effort to give the people a 'third party' objective traffic analysis/projection.

one last thing. it's funny that not only 24 hrs after Spain's victory, soccer websites are already asking, "Can Spain win World Cup in 2014?". ha ha ha!! Boy, the media does like to move on quickly...lol...Spain hasn't even had it's victory parade :)

Hi Carlos,
I hear you. I remember the "void" left after the last World Cup! I feel it too. Especially living in the U.S., b/c soccer will drop off the media radar. But the good news is that there are active groups meeting. And Amsterdam Tavern apparently even gets good turnouts of fans for U.S. national team qualifiers. Or whatever your team of choice may be, there are a few local places to go watch with other faithful fans! Thanks Carlos...Good luck to you. Keep me posted of any soccer news, stories you find of interest! -

Well Mitt,
You've learned a lot I see! But don't forget "big kicks" are important ;)Well, you're asking a great (and unanswerable question). Maybe this is the sign of an intriguing final. I think the Italians are the hot team and carry a lot of confidence into this game, plus they played Spain very well in Group Play.
Spain on the other side, has no shortage of "big game" players who I wouldn't imagine being at all intimidated by this match. Also their defense often goes overlooked. Spain has only lost 2 games since 2008! One, a friendly to the U.S.A and the other the first game of WCup 2010 to Sweden.
But they do seem vulnerable...I almost lean towards the team with confidence (Italy)...but Spain are the champions until somebody figures out how to knock them off.
Very enticing storyline and most people, i think, have no idea how this will play out.
I like to look for the ever important first 15-20 minutes. Does one team get a goal early...if so, that's sometimes very difficult to overcome.
Final Note: both teams have excellent goalkeepers, so it's 'on paper' a classic match.
Thank you Mr. Romney.

Mitt,
Yes there were a lot of "big" kicks in this match. I thank you for stopping by to post on my humble blog, sir. Other than the 'big' kicks you mentioned, in recent years, the head ball has also been legalized as a form of playing the ball. As you can see, some are learning the art quite well. Thanks again Mitt!

Hi Betserai,
Who are you picking today? Germany or Italy?
I have to go with Germany. I think Germany could win easily 3-1...but we'll see.

Hi Paul. i may be missing others, but i remembered last night the performance of Zinedine Zidane in the 1998 World Cup. That was the WC that France won in France. Zidane, to me, was an amazing combination of captain's leadership, central midfield intelligence/touch, and opportunistic goal scorer. He turned in a legendary performance in that Cup. Unfortunately, he'll be remembered by many for losing his cool and head butting an Italian player in the 2006 World Cup final. But in '98 he was everything you could want out of a captain. So in my 'recent' memory, he comes to mind.

UEFA under fire for splicing pre-recorded footage into live soccer games.
I noted in this blog the German woman who had a tear streaming down her eye after Italy's second goal. I just read on Sports Illustrated's site, that UEFA (organizing body of Euro tournament) took that picture of woman crying "during the national anthem!" and then spliced it into the game footage. The following Sports Illustrated article talks about how this is becoming more and more common...the new "Reality TV"...hopefully this behavior is punished and disallowed from becoming "acceptable".
