U City Police Blotter: Robberies, Purse Snatching

University City Police incidents from the week of Dec. 3-9

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 3-9. The department arrested 65 adults and four juveniles. There was one robbery, two burglaries and one motor vehicle theft. Victim stated person(s) unknown stole his vehicle, a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, from Municipal Lot #4. The victim was approached by male teenagers, who grabbed her purse and both suspect's fled the scene. Police pursuit ensued and one of the suspects was taken into custody. Second suspect taken into custody by investigators. Two juvenile suspects arrested for robbery with property recovered. The victim reported that person(s) unknown entered the attached garage of …

University City Police incidents from the week of Nov. 19-25.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Nov. 19-25. The department arrested 53 adults and four juveniles. There were two robberies and five burglaries. The reporting party stated person(s) unknown entered the unlocked residence while his girlfriend was outside and took several electronics.* Alarm sounding and it was discovered someone entered basement and removed copper. Suspect has been identified in thefts of vacant properties. The victim stated two male subjects approached from the alley and demanded wallet and cell phone. U City Police Blotter: Auto Thefts, Robberies

University City Police incidents from the week of Aug. 27 to Sept. 2.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Aug. 27 to Sept. 2. The department arrested 65 adults and one juvenile. There was one robbery, one burglary, and two auto thefts. The victim stated a 5’11”-6’0” dark complexed black male, wearing a dark hoodie and shoes (unknown color) with red shoe laces, pushed her and stole her purse. Person(s) unknown stole the victim's scooter, which was parked in the alley. Person(s) unknown stole the victim's vehicle. The vehicle is described as a 1985 blue/white Chevrolet Blazer.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Aug. 20-26. The department arrested 63 adults and two juveniles. There was one robbery, two assaults, one auto theft and one attempted auto theft.  Victim injured during an altercation with a group of subjects. Two suspects were arrested for assault and one suspect being sought. Person(s) unknown gained entry into the victim's unsecured vehicle by damaging a door lock. The suspect(s) damaged the ignition switch. The victim stated a subject approached him and demanded his belongings. The suspect fled and was pursued into St. Louis by our officers. Cranes of Hope Honor Fallen First Responders

The STL Crane Project papered Art Hill with 1,000 cranes Sunday morning.

Fifty-three years, 133 names and 1,000 cranes.  On Sunday, the STL Crane Project honored the 133 area first responders killed in the line of duty over the past 53 years with 1,000 paper cranes. The ceremony was postponed after heavy rains prevented the ceremony from taking place on Saturday. Michael King, opened the ceremony by talking about the origins of the project. A Japanese girl in the 1950s stricken with leukemia made 1,000 origami cranes to receive a prayerful wish. No Charges Filed in Heman Park Shooting

The incident occurred Saturday evening and a suspect was held and later released, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

No charges have been filed in a Saturday evening shooting in Heman Park that left one teenager injured. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the University City Police released a suspect arrested shortly after the 7:45 p.m. shooting.   The suspect was released Sunday, according to the report. The victim is a 17-year-old male who was shot once in the leg on the basketball courts at the park. He was in serious condition at a local hospital. Based on the account of a witness, U City Police arrested an 18-year-old male on suspicion of first-degree assault. University City Police Lt. Carl Coleman told the Post-Dispatch that police sought charges on Sunday but the prosecutors took the case under advisement. There was not enough evidence to …

Charles F, it seems you're painting with an excessively wide brush here. This was a crime, plain and simple. Crimes happen, sometimes arrests are made, sometimes they're actually solved. To pretend that there will be no youth crime EVER simply because there are a few basketball courts in Heman Park shows a very poor understanding of the whole situation. Bicyclist's Death in University City Prompts Charges

Emily C. Hagan is facing a count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed Samuel Scott, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A woman has been charged in connection with the accident that killed bicyclist Samuel Scott on the Delmar Loop in University City earlier this year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday. Quoting from the Post-Dispatch article: "(Emily C.) Hagan, 30, of the 400 block of North Clay Avenue, was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated."
