U City Plans Crime Awareness, Prevention Meetings

The meetings will be held at various locations around town this month.

As a strategic part of University City’s effort to raise safety awareness, the University City Police Department will be taking part in a series of crime awareness and prevention techniques.  Each meeting will involve discussions on various methods recommended to aid in safety awareness and crime prevention. Meetings will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. There are three meetings slated for March. What safety issues do you want to see the city address? Tell us in the comments.

University City Police incidents from the week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, 2013. The department arrested 52 adults and one juvenile. There were six burglaries. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown forced the front door of residence and stole electronics. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown unlawfully entered the residence and stole copper piping and turn-on valves. A suspect has been identified and is being sought. Person(s) broke the front window to Nail Spa to gain entry into the business. Video surveillance revealed that two black males were responsible for the burglary and left in a sedan, possibly blue or purple. …

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Jan. 21-27, 2013. The department arrested 41 adults and two juveniles. There were five burglaries and two motor vehicle thefts. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown stole her 2006 Pontiac G6 that was parked in front of her house. Person(s) unknown forced entry into the victim's residence through the north facing side door. The suspect(s) stole electronics. The reporting party stated person(s) unknown cut chain and stole red Genuine brand Roughhouse 49cc scooter. University City to Get Five New Police Cars

The University City City Council approved the expenditure Monday.

The University City City Council approved the purchase of five new patrol cars for the University City Police Department Monday. The four marked and one unmarked vehicle will replace aging vehicles in the city's fleet. The total price for the cars is $105,175. Councilman Michael Glickert noted during the meeting that he has seen city web site addresses on other municipalities' vehicles. He asked City Manager Lehman Walker if U City should do the same.  In other action, the council approved the following measures:

University City Police incidents from the week of Jan. 14-20.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Jan. 14-20, 2013. The department arrested 52 adults and five juveniles. There were three burglaries, one motor vehicle theft and one case of stealing from a person. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown broke into his vacant residence by forcing open the basement window and stole copper piping. The reporting party stated that male subject walked up from behind and pulled her purse. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10", 180 lbs., medium complexion, wearing a black "puffy" jacket with hood, blue jeans, a black skull cap, and boots. Police Blotter: Multiple Auto Thefts, Burglaries

University City Police incidents from the week of Dec. 31 - Jan. 6.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6, 2013. The department arrested 57 adults and two juveniles. There were three auto thefts, five burglaries, one robbery and one report of shots fired.  Officers discovered an open door while conducting a building check on the vacant property. There appeared to be damage to the door. Officers responded to notify a victim of a recovered stolen auto found by St. Louis City PD. University City Police incidents from the week of Dec. 24-30.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 24-30. The department arrested 44 adults and one juvenile. There were two robberies and six burglaries. The reporting party stated a male subject was attempting to enter the residence. Police were summoned and captured the man attempting to flee. A male suspect was arrested for Attempted Burglary. He is also suspect in other vacant property thefts.
