Proceeds from the festive cards benefit those in need of food this holiday season in the St. Louis area.
Operation Food Search is selling holiday greeting cards with proceeds going toward the purchase food to benefit local men, women, and children in need of basic daily basic sustenance. Operation Food Search holiday cards are available in sets of 25 cards for $25. The OFS holiday greeting cards feature its signature red tomato as a festive holiday ornament. Personalization is available for large quantity orders. Inside, each card is the following message: Sending you warmest thoughts and best wishes as you celebrate the season. The Nov. 15 meal will benefit the No Kid Hungry Campaign.
Operation Food Search (OFS) is hosting a collaborative six-course meal that pairs food from talented local chefs with top area microbreweries’ artisan beers at a benefit to help end childhood hunger. In honor of Food Day 2012, Operation Food Search is hosting a pop up lunch between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at its distribution center at 6282 Olive in University City, prepared by Chef John Johnson from River City Casino and Lumière Place Casino and Hotels. Brown bag to-go lunches are available while supplies last for a $10 donation to No Kid Hungry, an awareness and advocacy campaign to end childhood hunger. Ice skaters from the show came to University City-based Operation Food Search Tuesday to stuff food in backpacks.
The cast of Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove aims to help kids in the cities they visit. The cast stuffed backpacks for Operation Food Search’s Operation Backpack program. The cast, including The Incredibles, stuffed backpacks with a little help from preschoolers from Julia Goldstein Early Childhood Center. Operation Backpack provides food for the 85 percent of children enrolled in St. Louis public schools who rely on free or reduced-cost meal programs. Winslow’s Home, in University City, apparently knows what people like to eat. The specialty restaurant won the popular vote at the Brentwood Galleria Whole Food’s Grass-Fed Beef Cook-Off for the second year in a row. Pimento cheese, coleslaw on a brioche bun was chef Cary McDowell’s winning recipe. The chef called his winning burger “Summer” 2012. Each of the six St. Louis area eateries entered started with 60 pounds of grass fed beef from Rain Crow Ranch. Bailey’s Range, Five Bistro, The Acero and Sidney Street Café all had their own take on the classic grilled burger. Sidney Street Café won the judges’ prize.
