MoDOT Hoping to Improve Traffic Flow on Olive Boulevard

The major east-west roadway runs from Chesterfield in West County all the way to the eastern edge of University City.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is looking to improve the traffic flow on Olive Boulevard, a road that has likely been the source of many a frustrated commute for St. Louis County drivers. The east-west street stretches from Chesterfield on one end to University City on the other, and MoDOT officials recently told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Ride Guy that they have hired a consultant to examine how its 47 traffic signals can be better synchronized. The move follows the completion of improvements to allow Highway 141 in Chesterfield to carry more traffic. MoDOT spokeswoman Linda Wilson Horn said the study will likely result in a few seconds being added to green lights throughout Olive Boulevard, according to the Post-…

News Nearby: Olivette City Leaders Reject Developer Criticism

Olivette Mayor Arthur Merdinian and City Manager Mike McDowell say the city is taking steps to work with developers and update ordinances.

Olivette city officials are brushing off criticism brought on by a pair of developers who told Patch Olivette was "anti-progress" and "stuck in a time warp." Last week, Steve Noles and Bob Elkan vented their frustration over what they contend has been years of effort to develop the corner of Olive Boulevard and Interstate 170. Eating My Way Through University City: Pho Long

Ryan and I uncovered a gem of a restaurant in University City. Truth be told, it wasn’t a recent discovery. A year or two ago, we wandered into Pho Long, located at 8627 Olive Blvd, on a Saturday evening, glanced at the menu, and left after realizing there wasn’t much offered aside from pho, which neither of us were feeling that evening. It wasn’t until my lovely Patch editor Myra suggested I check out Pho Long that Ryan and I decided to pay the place another visit, this time to stay and eat!
