U City Taco Bell Offering Free Tacos Today

The offer is only good today from 2-6 p.m. and is thanks to a stolen base by San Francisco Giants player Angel Pagan during the World Series.

Although the Cardinals didn't make it to the World Series, baseball has one last gift to give from the 2012 season: free tacos.  The giveaway is a result of the "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" promotion by Taco Bell, which promised to give away free food if a base was stolen during the World Series. The San Francisco Giants' Angel Pagan did just that in Game 2, sliding into second base and effectively earning free tacos for most of the country. To collect on the taco bonanza, head to a participating Taco Bell location from 2-6 p.m. today. Just try not to get too misty-eyed thinking about the St. Louis Cardinals dropping three games to the Giants and be thankful, at least, that something good come out of it.

St. Louis Cardinals Season Ends in San Francisco

The Giants beat the Cardinals 9-0 in Game 7 to end the Redbirds' 2012 season.

There will be no World Series in St. Louis this season.  There will be no parade down Market Street, no 12th world championship and no rematch of the 2006 Fall Classic. Monday night in San Francisco the Cardinals hopes of a repeat of 2011 were ended at the hands of the Giants.  Just like in 1996, the Cardinals, with a new manager, had a 3-1 lead in the National League Championship series. And, just like in '96, the Cards failed to get win No. 4, losing in Game 7 in a blowout.  The Cardinals were done in by a series of miscues and the inability to get a big basehit. But, credit the San Francisco, the Giants had to play perfect to come back and did just that.  The loss in California closes the book on an interesting season for the Cardinals…

Is David Freese an MLB All-Star?

The third baseman sent the St. Louis Cardinals to Game 7 of the World Series with his clutch performance, but he hasn't secured a spot on the National League's All-Star Game roster yet. Fans can still vote him in.

Why doesn’t the World Series MVP have a spot on the All-Star team yet? David Freese rescued the St. Louis Cardinals when they were one strike away from losing the World Series twice, and started this season with 13 home runs. Aside from baseball, he created his own baseball camp, suffered through an obnoxious interview at Six Flags St. Louis and made this 7-year old’s dream come true. Does that sound like an All-Star to you? Vote here or text N2 to 89269 to cast your ballot for Freese, who is competing against Bryce Harper (Washington Nationals), Michael Bourn (Atlanta Braves) and Aaron Hill (Arizona Diamondbacks). Freese was in the running against favorite Atlanta Braves' Chipper Jones, when Major League Baseball announced Jones would …

What's interesting here is the time Bryce Harper lost in the race when he did the cool thing and told people to vote for Chipper Jones when Jones was still in the running as a last candidate, in what is his final season. Hard to pinpoint how many votes Harper lost between Sunday and Tuesday. Also saw that Bradley Beal was already getting into the DC spirit by using his twitter account to give …   more ›

Cardinals' Manager Announces Retirement

Just days after winning the World Series, Tony La Russa announces he is leaving the Cardinals.

As the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported, Tony La Russa is leaving the Cardinals. The St. Louis Cardinals held a press conference at 9 a.m. this morning to announce Manager Tony La Russa's retirement from the team. La Russa leaves the team just days after winning the 2011 World Series in seven games over the Texas Rangers. Can the Redbirds Ride the Heroics of Lafayette's David Freese to a Series Win?

The Lafayette grad jacked one over the centerfield fence to steal Game 6 from the Texas Rangers. Do the Cardinals have a chance in Game 7?

Minutes after the St. Louis Cardinals clawed back and won Game 6 of the Worlds Series just before midnight, fans on Twitter were raving about the game and the performance of hometown hero David Freese, the Lafayette High grad whose walkoff homer won the game. The Cards won 10-9, knotting the series 3-3 for a deciding Game 7 tonight. "Why is David Freese not trending?!" tweeted "ndrewAllen." "If the #Cardinals win the World Series, they have to build a statue of #DavidFreese," posted JYOUNGNEXTLEVEL, hailing the alum of the Wildwood high school. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, on the homepage of its STLtoday.com website, headlined its story "Freese it! Hometown hero sends series to Game 7." Nobody could resist the play on words. MLB.com …

@ Mr. Frank: I agree that the Cardinals are a worthy champion and played baseball at a higher level than their opponents to end the season. Tony LaRussa has had my respect since his days in Chicago and I'm glad that he's retiring a champion.   more ›
