William Holden Receives Star on the Walk of Fame

Star of "Sabrina" and "Network" was born in O'Fallon, IL.

Oscar-winning actor and O'Fallon, IL. native William Holden joined a prestigious group of celebrities Thursday when his star was added to the St. Louis Walk of Fame.  The St. Louis Walk of Fame is located on Delmar sidewalks in the Loop. Plaques of famous St. Louisians in politics, entertainment, science and sports are displayed. Holden was an Oscar winning actor, known for his roles in Sunset Blvd, Sabrina, Stalag 17 and Network. A complete filmography can be found here. Brian Keller, president of the O’Fallon Historical Society, accepted the award. Holden moved to Hollywood at age 3, but came back to O'Fallon often to visit family in the area. Keller noted that Holden was the best man at former President Ronald Reagan's wedding to Nancy …

Walk of Fame: William Holden's Star Unveiling Is Today

Unveiling ceremony is slated for 11:30 a.m.

Oscar-winning actor and O'Fallon, IL. native William Holden joins a prestigious group of celebrities today when his star is added to the St. Louis Walk of Fame.  The St. Louis Walk of Fame is located on Delmar sidewalks in the Loop. Plaques of famous St. Louisians in politics, entertainment, science and sports are displayed. The Ceremony The ceremony to dedicate Holden's star will be held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9 at 6150 Delmar, across from the Moonrise Hotel.  Brian Keller, president of the O’Fallon Historical Society, will accept the award. Holden died in 1981.

What films is he known for? I realize I can Google it, but I thought that it would say in this article. His photo looks like he is from older films? I don't watch a lot of movies but that is always helpful when trying to place a name. Thanks   more ›

William Holden Joining St. Louis' Walk of Fame

Oscar-winning actor and O'Fallon, IL. native William Holden will join a prestigious group of celebrities when his star is added to the St. Louis Walk of Fame. Holden's star dedication will be Aug. 9.  The St. Louis Walk of Fame is located on Delmar sidewalks in the Loop. Plaques of famous St. Louisians in politics, entertainment, science and sports are displayed. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Holden was born William Franklin Beedle Jr. in 1918. His family moved to California when he was a young child. My favorite actor ever!!!!!! Absolutely love bill holden. My favorite of his films are: union station, boots Malone, fedora, the turning point, sunset blvd., stalag 17, forever female, the lion. Nevermind I just love everything he did!!! So happy he has a star in my hometown.   more ›
