Jan Adams and Paulette Carr are seeking a seat on the University City City Council.
University City voters have a lot to decide on Tuesday, April 3, when they head to the polls. For the city council, there are contested races in Wards 1 and 2. In Ward 3, Arthur Sharpe Jr. is running unopposed for reelection. Patch asked each candidate to answer a series of questions to introduce themselves to voters. Here are the candidates for Ward 2. Incumbent Lynn Ricci did not seek reelection.

A candidate forum was held Wednesday at University City Library.
The University Park subdivision hosted a Ward 2 candidate forum Wednesday, March 7, at the University City Library. The format of the event was moderated Q and A with Ward 2 candidates Jan Adams and Paulette Carr. Repps Hudson served as moderator. University City Patch filmed the opening statements of each candidate. Look for a story later today with more information on each candidate's stance on issues.

Event will be held at the Heman Park Community Center.
4:20 p.m. Update: The location for the event has been changed to the Heman Park Community Center. The second candidate forum in as many nights will be held tonight at Centennial Commons. The Partridge Heights Neighborhood Association is hosting the forum, which will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8. Ward 2 candidates Paulette Carr and Jan Adams are scheduled to attend.

Jan Adams is a former Missouri assistant attorney general who prosecuted fraud. Before that, she was in private practice. She retired from law in 2010.
Jan Adams believes that she can use her legal and legislative experience to serve University City. That's why she is running for city council in Ward 2, according to a news release. "I am a dedicated public servant, an advocate for consumer protection and a team player," Adams said in the release. Adams is a former Missouri assistant attorney general who prosecuted fraud. Before that, she was in private practice. Adams served University City as a member of its Civil Service Board for three years. "I provided diligent oversight of our employee costs, which constitute 80 percent of our budget, before the reorganization that has occurred over the past year," Adams said.
