Police Nab Man for Carrying .357 Handgun in His Shorts

Police were searching for a suspect in a drive-by shooting that killed a University City teenager Thursday.

A University City man was arrested for carrying a .357 cal Smith & Wesson handgun in his shorts. Police were searching for a suspect in Thursday’s drive-by shooting in which a University City teenager was killed. Terrel E. Sanders, 22, of the 6500 block of Corbitt Avenue, was charged Friday with unlawful use of a weapon for carrying the concealed handgun. University City Police arrested Sanders at about 11:45 p.m. at the intersection of Melrose and Partridge avenues, according to a police report. The drive-by shooting was at Plymouth Avenue near Sutter Avenue. Sanders is being held in the University City jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond. I don't know anyone involved in either case, but if the shooting and this arrest are unrelated, why are you reporting them together, indeed in alternating lines of the same paragraph? And why do you wait until the very last sentence to point out that they are unrelated? Way to bury the lead!   more ›
