Continued Rain Means No Get Your Chalk On

This weekend's heavy rains have made the Delmar Loop's asphalt too wet for chalk art.

Saturday's rains, a remnant of Hurricane Isaac, have forced the cancellation of today's Get Your Chalk On! event.  The Loop Special Business District issued the following statement Saturday: Unfortunately Mother Nature is not cooperating with our sidewalk art chalk festival this weekend. Due to the large amounts of rain that we received today, the sidewalks in The Loop are saturated with water and we are going to have to cancel the event tomorrow.   At this point in time we do not have another date scheduled for this event. We will notify everyone if we are able re-schedule the event.  University City Patch will post information as soon as it becomes available. Rain Cancels Delmar Loop's Get Your Chalk On

The rain date is Sunday. If the rain stops in time today, the postponed event can be held.

Friday's heavy rains, a remnant of Hurricane Isaac, have forced the cancellation of today's Get Your Chalk On! event. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 2. If the rain stops today and the pavement drys out, the event should be able to go. University City Patch will post information as soon as it becomes available. The Delmar Loop hosts its second Get Your Chalk On art event Sept. 1 in University City.

Are you ready to add your artistic touch to the Delmar Loop? The second Get Your Chalk On! event is Sept. 1. The rain date is Sept. 2. Artists and the aspiring can sign up at visittheloop.com or at Blick Art Materials. Awards will be given for most creative, chalk of fame, Loop theme and viewer's choice.  All participants will receive supplies and a place to create. Children under 12 can join in the fun in Chalk Land.  The entry fees are $10 adults (18 and over); $8 for students (13-18); and $4 for children (12 and under).
