'A Night At The Casino' Early Bird Deadline Is Today

The University City Chamber of CommerceA event is open to the public.

The University City Chamber of Commerce is hosting "A Night at the Casino" at the Heman Park Community Center on Saturday, Nov. 17. Business people and residents looking for a great way to build their community network and have a fabulous time should buy their tickets to "A Night At The Casino" by this Friday to take advantage of the early bird rate of only $25. After that, tickets will be $30.   The event will run from 7-10 p.m. Guests will each get a pile of chips to play poker, blackjack, roulette, craps and slot machines. The chips won at the gaming tables will be your chance to win prizes throughout the evening. Chamber, Loop Business District Collecting Disaster Relief Funds

Volunteers will be out Friday morning to collect funds to aid the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Volunteers will be up early Friday, Nov. 9, to ask morning commuters to donate money for the Red Cross's disaster relief efforts on the east coast.   Volunteers will be collecting from 7:30 - 9 a.m. at the corners of Big Bend and Delmar, Hanley and Delmar, Olive and Midland and Olive and McKnight.   Volunteers also will be in the Delmar Loop from 4-6 p.m. Saturday collecting donations. Commerce Bank will be counting the money collected and sending it to the Red Cross. Taste of U City Showcases Area's Best Eats

Large crowds filled the 560 Music Center Thursday night.

Big crowds turned out for big tastes Thursday at the University City Chamber of Commerce's inaugeral Taste of U City. The event was held at the 560 Music Center. Attendees were treated to samples of food and alcoholic beverages from more than 30 local businesses. Get Ready for a Taste of U City Tonight

More than 30 business are expected to participate in tonight's Chamber event.

Some of the best eats in University City will all be in one place tonight for the University City Chamber of Commerce's inaugeral Taste of U City. The event is slated from 4:30-7 p.m. at the 560 Music Center. Attendees will be able to try samples of food and alcoholic beverages from more than 30 local businesses. In addition to the food and drink, door prizes and raffle items will be up for grabs.   "I describe it as a happy hour on steroids," University City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ellen Bern said. "It's a fun, family-friendly community event." U City Day at the Ballpark Deadline Extended

Tickets will be available until Monday, April 23.

University City is going to the birds. Specifically, to the Cardinals game. The University City Chamber of Commerce, City of University City and the School District of University City have joined forces for U City Night at the Ballpark. Tickets to the May 12 St. Louis Cardinals game are available at a group discount rate. For $20, U City fans can see the Cards take on the Atlanta Braves. The face value of the ticket is $37.  Ticket price includes admission, a hot dog and a soda. Those interested in a ticket can contact the Chamber at (314) 337-2489.
