A University City woman faces criminal charges for stabbing her husband in the neck and firing a handgun in their apartment in the 800 block of Lepere Avenue in U City. Daryel A. Mueller, 31, was charged Thursday with first-degree domestic assault and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. University City Police said Mueller was arguing with her husband April 24 when she pulled out a Taurus 9 mm handgun, threatened him and fired a shot during the argument. When her husband started to leave, she stabbed him in the neck with a knife, police said. Police said the man got nine stitches in his neck at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Jarvis Simms, a Vinita Park man accused stabbing his father to death Aug. 15, had been on probation for second-degree arson for setting a fire in 2007. Simms, 28, pleaded guilty to the arson in 2008 and was given a suspended execution of sentence and five years supervised probation. Simms was charged Aug. 15 with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of his father, Walter F. Scott Sr. A witness told police Simms stabbed Scott repeatedly with a large-bladed knife. Vinita Park Police Chief Greg Moore told Patch he did not know of a motive for the murder. A Vinita Park man was stabbed to death Wednesday in his home in the 8300 block of Monroe Street, just north of Olivette. Vinita Park Police said in a report that Jarvis Simms, 28, was seen repeatedly stabbing the victim, Walter Scott, with a large bladed knife. Simms has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Police said in the probable cause statement that Simms stabbed Scott “after deliberation.” Simms is being held in St. Louis County Justice Services Center without bond.
