Annual Uniform Day Memorial Ceremony Held Friday

The event honors fallen public servants.

The Thirty-Sixth Annual Uniform Day Memorial Ceremony was held Friday, May 10 behind Police Headquarters in Clayton. Participating in the program were a police and fire honor guard, a police rifle squad and the St. Louis County Police Pipes and Drums. The traditional ceremony consisted of the posting of colors, a roll call of the deceased and a 16 volley shotgun salute. Several police and fire departments from around the St. Louis area participated in the ceremony. According to a press release, the wearing of dress uniforms by all commissioned personnel, regardless of assignment, serves as a visual affirmation of the commitment of these public safety providers to their chosen profession.  May 15 is Peace Officers Memorial Day. U City Man Faces Charge He Dealt Cocaine

St. Louis County Police found cocaine at a University City home in 2010, and the man said it was his, according to a court document.

St. Louis County Police executing a search warrant said they found cocaine at a University City man’s home. Edward Watkins Jr., 24, of the 8600 block of Old Towne Drive in University City, was charged Tuesday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. St. Louis County Police searched a home March 18, 2010, in the 8400 block of Elmore Avenue and said they found cocaine. According to a court document, Watkins told police the cocaine was his and he was selling cocaine. Bond was set at $10,000, cash only. Watkins was released from St. Louis County jail Wednesday. Four Sodomy Charges Link to 'Most Wanted' Fugitive

Officers for the St. Louis County Police Department website update the Most Wanted list as fugitives are apprehended. The list currently includes suspects wanted for attempted enticement of a child, unlawful uses of weapons, burglary, child abuse, robbery, child kidnapping, stealing, forgery, assault of law officers, statutory rape and domestic assault. Among current suspects is Alan Galicia-Hernandez, whose photo accompanies this article. His last known address was in Florissant, and he is wanted for four charges of statutory sodomy. He is 28 years old. Intruder Disarmament Training Offered to School Districts Around St. Louis

Law enforcement and school district officials shared area crises plans at a Safe Schools Partnership meeting Thursday. Police-led training could be provided to teachers and administrators.

St. Louis area police and school administrators are taking security measures in schools to the next level, even to the point of perhaps conducting training for teachers about how to disarm intruders and negotiate with shooters who invade schools.  St. Louis County Police Department officers and members of the Safe Schools Partnership met Thursday morning at the Rockwood School District Administrative Annex in Eureka to continue discussions about how to bolster future safety in schools. Police Say New 'N-Bomb' Drug is a Dangerous Addition to St. Louis

The St. Louis County Police sent out a warning about the deadly hallucinogen after a West County parent said she believes her daughter may have been slipped N-Bomb at a New Year's Eve party and nearly overdosed.

St. Louis County Police are warning parents and teens about a new sythentic drug called "N-Bomb" that is already responsible for deaths in several states.  The name stems from its chemical composition, 2C-I-NBOMe or 25INBOMe, and police say it is a powerful hallucinogen that is a more potent and deadly derivative of mescaline. It has been reportedly responsible for fatal overdoses in California, North Dakota, Minnesota, Lousiana and Virginia.  St. Louis County Police said the substance has been purchased undercover in the metro area by drug detectives. Man Indicted on Washington University Kidnapping, Robbery

Police said video surveillance and phone records place the defendant at the university's parking garage and shows him confronting the woman.

A St. Louis man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Wednesday on charges that he abducted and robbed a woman in a Washington University parking lot Aug. 28. William Cobbins, 22, of the 1600 block of Pine Street in St. Louis, was indicted for kidnapping, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. St. Louis County Police said Cobbins forced the woman into the driver’s seat of her car at the parking garage at 6985 Snow Way Drive. He got in the back seat and put a knife up to her abdomen and forced her drive to ATMs in three locations, having her withdraw a total of $1,500. Update: St. Louis County Police Will Offer Increased Elementary School Patrols Following Connecticut Mass Shooting

The move comes in the wake of a deadly shooting rampage in Newtown, Connecticut which has left dozens dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School, many of them young children.

St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch announced via Twitter Friday afternoon that officers will provide extra patrols at elementary schools until further notice. "We hope our presence will calm fears," he tweeted. Those fears come in the wake of a deadly school shooting in Newtown, CT, friday where authorities say a man went to an elementary school and killed at least 26 people, including his mother, according to Newtown Patch. At least 18 children have been killed in the Newtown shooting, according to authorities. U City Man Shot Man in Chest, Police Say

The shooting victim survived; Eric Cooper has been charged in the incident in North County.

A 41-year-old University City man shot a North County man in the chest in Glasgow Village, St. Louis County Police said. Eric C. Cooper, 41, of the 7400 block of Liberty Avenue in University City, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. St. Louis County Police said Cooper shot the man in the chest Nov. 21 in the 10500 block of Lothian Circle in Glasgow Village in North County. The shooting victim was taken to a St. Louis area hospital. Information was not immediately available on his condition. Police said Cooper is not allowed to possess a firearm because he was convicted in 2008 of a felony, distributing cocaine base. Cooper is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail …
