Patch first told you the new business was on its way in early November. Opening day was Wednesday.
The newest business to open its doors in Olivette is Arena Liquor, which opened in the Olivette Center shopping plaza next to Party City on Wednesday. Workers were still hanging "Now Open" banners in the front window and lugging ladders around under the high ceilings of the new retailer when Patch visited to check in early Wednesday afternoon. "We just opened a couple of hours ago," said co-owner Mukesh Shah. "This is all new to us, opening in this location." He said for now, the store at 9612A Olive Blvd., will have hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., but that they were experimenting a little. The hours of the local chain's main store on Hampton Avenue in Dogtown are 10 a.m. to midnight. Arena also has locations in Hazelwood and Columbia, MO.

That drama hit close to home in the days leading up to the Thanksgiving weekend when stores in Manchester and St. Charles that sell Hostess foods abruptly closed their doors, leaving employees wondering what would happen next. That came after news that the company could not come to terms with its bakers union. Without an agreement over 8 percent cuts in wages and 17 percent cuts in benefits, the company said, it would have to shutter its doors and liquidate the …

Several local companies are available to hang Christmas lights on your house. They take them down after the holidays are over, too.
For some families, "decking the halls with boughs of holly" is a warm and fuzzy Christmas tradition, with all family members participating in decorating the Christmas tree and otherwise putting out all of the home holiday decorations. But there's not a lot of fa-la-la-la-la-ing" involved for the person standing on a metal extension ladder on a cold and windy day, untangling stubborn strands of Christmas lights and attaching them to the gutters. Some companies have made a business out of a sometimes irritable task of stringing Christmas lights on your home. Green Print Lawncare is a Barnhart lawn service company in the spring and summer, but it hangs lights during the holiday season as a way to make money and to keep it's lawn service work …
