University City Police incidents from the week of Feb. 25 to March 3.
Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Feb. 25 to March 3, 2013. The department arrested 37 adults and one juvenile. There was one report of stealing, one report of shots fired and a burglary. The victim stated person(s) unknown fired shots at the residence. No one was injured. A recent incident at another location is believed to be the cause, and a suspect is named. Further investigation continues. Officers responded to an alarm at a business. Bystanders say shots were fired but no one was hit.
6:10 p.m. Update: Capt. Michael Ransom said U City Police were called to Heman Park with a report of shots fired around 5 p.m. "As as far as they know," Ransom told Patch, "No one was shot." Ransom said one young lady fell while trying to flee. No emergency medical vehicles were called to the scene/ Police have several people in custody, Ransom reported and have recovered a handgun. Large police presence reported Saturday night near Delmar and Skinker.
Shots were fired and a massive fight broke out Saturday night in University City's Delmar Loop. KSDK reports the fight started around 9 p.m. in University City before moving into St. Louis. University City Police officers closed several portions of Delmar Boulevard while they worked to restore order. Eyewitnesses told KSDK it was a chaotic scene with teenagers jumping on cars. Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of March 5-11. The department arrested 50 adults and 16 juveniles. There were four burglaries and two reports of shots fired. The victim said she returned to her residence and noticed her gate ajar. When she went inside the residence she heard a bang at the front door and then observed a while male in his early 20s, 5'4"-5'6", dark hair, running east on Teasdale. Patrick - i think that people getting high in the park is the least of the problems at Heman Park. I have been in Heman Park on many occasions and see people drinking excessively, which has then led to loud and in some occasions unruly behavior.
