Police ID 12-Year-Old Boy Shot, Killed Tuesday

Demetri Phillips was a sixth grader at Brittany Woods Middle School.

2:30 p.m. Update: The School District of University city released the following statement about Demetri's personality. "Demetri had a really good sense of humor. He was creative and came up with stories full of adventure. He liked football. He had good manners and good class participation." Reports: 12 Year Old Shot, Killed Tuesday in U City

The child was shot by a friend, according to reports.

A 12-year-old child was shot and killed tonight in University City, according to reports. KSDK reports that University City Police were called to a home in the 1500 block of Westmont Place around 6 p.m. for a report of a 12-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The child was taken to Children's Hospital where he later died.  According to KMOV, the gun belonged to the grandfather of a classmate of the victim. The children were playing at the grandfather's home.  At some point, the children got a hold of the grandfather’s handgun, which was in an unlocked bedroom. The boys were playing with gun when it went off, shooting the victim in the head. The other child was taken to Family Court as the investigation continues. This is a breaking story. …

With all due respect, I send my condolences for your loss. Why do people even have guns when they somehow find their way into obviously the wrong hands? The police had a Gun Buy Back program several years ago and were handing out cash for weapons at and arranged location that was in practically every newspaper, television and radio station newscasts at the time. U City Man Shot Man in Chest, Police Say

The shooting victim survived; Eric Cooper has been charged in the incident in North County.

A 41-year-old University City man shot a North County man in the chest in Glasgow Village, St. Louis County Police said. Eric C. Cooper, 41, of the 7400 block of Liberty Avenue in University City, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. St. Louis County Police said Cooper shot the man in the chest Nov. 21 in the 10500 block of Lothian Circle in Glasgow Village in North County. The shooting victim was taken to a St. Louis area hospital. Information was not immediately available on his condition. Police said Cooper is not allowed to possess a firearm because he was convicted in 2008 of a felony, distributing cocaine base. Cooper is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail …

Report: Man Shot, Killed at Renee's Bar Friday Night

KMOV reports Cameron Smith was shot in the chest.

3:15 p.m. update: Renee's has moved to the 5800 block of Delmar, just outside University City in St. Louis. Our original story: A 33-year-old man was shot in the chest inside Renee's Bar and Grill in University City, KMOV reports. Police say Cameron Smith was shot in the chest around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died. Reports say that the suspect fled through the front door of the business. Fox 2 News reports that there are leads in the case. The investigation is ongoing.

Update: U City Police Searching for Murder Suspect

Police have released composite sketches of the alleged shooter.

University City Police have released the identity of the two people shot and killed Monday. They are Phebe Stallings, 54, and her son Mosary Stallings, 23. Both were residents of the 6500 block of Bartmer. Police continue to look for the shooter and released three composite sketches of possible suspects Tuesday. The suspect is described as a black male with a medium complexion who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt or jacket.  The suspect was last seen fleeing south on foot.  Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call University City Police at 314-725-2211 ext. 8010 or Crime Stoppers at 866-371-TIPS. University City police report two people were shot Monday afternoon at Sutter and Bartmer Industrial Drive.

University City Police report that two people were shot and killed Monday in University City. According to a news release from Capt. Michael Ransom, officers responded to Sutter Ave. and Bartmer Industrial Drive around 2:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, on a report of two people who had been shot.  Officers discovered a woman, age 54, and a man, age 23, who had both been shot. The victims were taken to an area hospital where they died of their injuries. In a later release, Ransom reported that the two were approached or met up with a man before the shooting, who was seen running away. At this time, police do not know if the victims knew the man. Police also recovered a substantial amount of what is believed to be narcotics. Anyone with information…

University City police report two people were shot Monday afternoon at Sutter and Bartmer Industrial Drive.

The University City Police report that two people have been shot and killed today in University City. According to a news release from Capt. Michael Ransom, officers responded to Sutter Ave. and Bartmer Industrial Drive around 2:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, on a report of two people who had been shot.  Officers discovered a woman, age 54, and a man, age 23, who had both been shot. Man Shot Victim Three Times After Walking Up to Group, Police Say

The victim survived, but was seriously injured after being shot in the arm and one in the hand, police said.

A man faces criminal charges after police said he shot a man three times Aug. 25 in the 6800 block of Olive Boulevard in University City. Maleke Johnson, 18, of the 5700 block of Albia Terrace in Jennings, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. University City Police said in a report that Johnson approached a group of people in a parking lot at about 4:25 p.m. Aug. 25 and shot the victim three times, twice in the arm and once in the hand. Police: Three Acted Together in Heman Park Shooting

Witnesses identified men and the van as being involved in Friday's crime at the park.

More details were released on the Heman Park shooting on Friday as charges were filed against three men. Each of the three men were charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. The suspects are: University City Police said in a report the three men, acting together, shot at the victim near the basketball courts in Heman Park Friday. Several witnesses described a van as being involved in the shooting, police said. The victim identified two of the men in the van as people who shot at him. University City Police stopped the van near the scene of the shooting. A handgun and spent shell casing were recovered inside the van.
