A security guard from University City shot himself as he removed his gun from its holster Tuesday morning, KSDK is reporting. According to the report, University City Police officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Watts around 8:25 a.m. Tuesday. KSDK reports the victim was a security officer who was removing his weapon from the holster when it discharged. The unidentified victim was struck by the bullet, but did not suffer any serious or life threatening injuries, according to the report. To read the full KSDK story, click here.

St. Louis County Police said six pre-teen children were in the home in Jennings during the shooting.
A University City man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend. Witnesses say they saw Terrance Duff, 40, of the 7500 block of Wayne Avenue in University City, shoot and kill Antoinetta Davis, according to court documents. Police said Duff broke into the home sometime before 1:55 a.m. Monday morning in the 7000 block of Florence Place in Jennings intending to shoot Davis. Children called from a nearby residence to report their mother had been injured, and police found Davis inside her home dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The young man shot outside Club Escalade late Wednesday night was a promising boxer. Preston Freeman, 20, died Thursday at an area hospital. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Freeman was scheduled to have a four-round welterweight bout Friday in Redwood City, CA. A fight started inside the club and continued into the parking lot, University City Sgt. Fredrick Lemons told the Post. He said that "numerous" people were involved in the fight. The man shot outside of Club Escalade on Olive Blvd. has died from his wounds. Preston Freeman, 20, was shot around midnight Wednesday night and later died of his wounds. One of the victims had been threatened previously by the defendant's friend, according to a University City Police report.
A man was charged Wednesday afternoon in the Oct. 29 shooting death of a mother and her son at Sutter and Bartmer avenues. Carlos Suber, 21, of the 1000 block of Roth Avenue in University City, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. University City Police said Suber shot and killed Phebe Stallings, 54, and her son Mosary Stallings, 23, both residents of the 6500 block of Bartmer. Witnesses identified Suber as the person running from the shooting scene, according to court documents. Suber also has been identified as having a weapon and making threatening statements about Mosary Stallings, University City Police said. Suber is being held in St. Louis County jail. University City Police have identified the victim of Sunday night's shooting as 17-year-old Demarko M. Williams. Williams was shot and killed outside an apartment complex Sunday night in University City. The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. outside a building in the 6300 block of Olive Blvd. According to KMOV, the victim was standing outside the building when the suspect approached the him and opened fire. He was shot in the stomach several times before the suspect fled on foot. In the wake of the Newtown, CT school massacre, St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch will visit schools this week to discuss increasing security, including putting guns in elementary schools.
St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch and police officers will begin visiting St. Louis County schools Monday morning, according to KMOV. Fitch said he's received numerous calls from area schools concerned about security since Friday's mass shooting in a Newtown, CT elementary school. Fitch acknowledges that most high schools and some middle schools, including those in West County, have armed school resource officers. However, elementary schools are not normally protected by officers. Fitch wants to see armed resource officers or armed school officials in those schools, according to KSDK.
