U City Police Blotter: Burglaries, Auto Theft

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Jan. 14-20, 2013. The department arrested 52 adults and five juveniles. There were three burglaries, one motor vehicle theft and one case of stealing from a person. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown broke into his vacant residence by forcing open the basement window and stole copper piping. The reporting party stated that male subject walked up from behind and pulled her purse. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10", 180 lbs., medium complexion, wearing a black "puffy" jacket with hood, blue jeans, a black skull cap, and boots. University City Police incidents from the week of Dec. 31 - Jan. 6.

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6, 2013. The department arrested 57 adults and two juveniles. There were three auto thefts, five burglaries, one robbery and one report of shots fired.  Officers discovered an open door while conducting a building check on the vacant property. There appeared to be damage to the door. Officers responded to notify a victim of a recovered stolen auto found by St. Louis City PD. Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 24-30. The department arrested 44 adults and one juvenile. There were two robberies and six burglaries. The reporting party stated a male subject was attempting to enter the residence. Police were summoned and captured the man attempting to flee. A male suspect was arrested for Attempted Burglary. He is also suspect in other vacant property thefts. Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 17-23. The department arrested 48 adults and three juveniles. There was one charge of stealing, four burglaries and two motor vehicle thefts. Houseguest Robs U City Man, Steals Car

Police said the man hit his host and left with his cash, a bracelet and his car.

A houseguest struck and robbed a University City man Dec. 29 and took his car, police said. Christopher Hoskin, 19, of the 2400 block of Switzer Avenue in Jennings, was charged Thursday with second-degree robbery. University City Police said Hoskin was a guest at a home in the 7200 block of Olive Boulevard in U City when he struck the resident in the eye. Hoskin then took his cash, car keys, a bracelet and the victim’s car, a Chrysler 300. Hoskin was being held in St. Louis County jail on Friday. Bail was set at $15,000. U City Man in Ski Mask Robbed Quick Stop, Police Say

University City Police said the man entered the store without the mask, and a witness approaching the store saw the man flee the store without the mask.

A man is accused of robbing the M&A Quick Stop on Olive Boulevard in University City Saturday. James E. Brown, 21, of the 6900 block of Melrose Avenue in University City, was charged Sunday with first-degree robbery. University City Police said Brown entered the Quick Stop store at 6800 Olive Blvd. and the owner recognized him as a regular customer. Shortly afterward, he came to the counter wearing a ski mask, pointed a gun at the store owner and demanded money. The owner gave him $300 to $400 and the man left the store. A witness saw him running from the store after taking off the ski mask. Police said officers arrested Brown later that evening and he was wearing the same clothes described by the store owner. Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Dec. 3-9. The department arrested 65 adults and four juveniles. There was one robbery, two burglaries and one motor vehicle theft. Victim stated person(s) unknown stole his vehicle, a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, from Municipal Lot #4. The victim was approached by male teenagers, who grabbed her purse and both suspect's fled the scene. Police pursuit ensued and one of the suspects was taken into custody. Man Indicted on Washington University Kidnapping, Robbery

Police said video surveillance and phone records place the defendant at the university's parking garage and shows him confronting the woman.

A St. Louis man was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury Wednesday on charges that he abducted and robbed a woman in a Washington University parking lot Aug. 28. William Cobbins, 22, of the 1600 block of Pine Street in St. Louis, was indicted for kidnapping, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. St. Louis County Police said Cobbins forced the woman into the driver’s seat of her car at the parking garage at 6985 Snow Way Drive. He got in the back seat and put a knife up to her abdomen and forced her drive to ATMs in three locations, having her withdraw a total of $1,500. Man Robbed Man, Stole Car in Parking Lot on the Loop, Police Say

One man put a knife to the victim's neck while another pulled out a gun during the Oct. 25 robbery, according to University City Police.

A man was charged for robbing a man and stealing his car just after midnight Oct. 25 at 605 Leland Avenue. The area is a parking lot behind a restaurant on the Loop on the 6600 block of Delmar Blvd. Timothy L. Valley, 19, was charged Dec. 7 with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. University City Police said Valley and another man stole a man’s cell phone and his 1996 Toyota Camry. The other man approached the victime in the parking lot and asked if he could borrow some jumper cables, police said When the man told him he had no jumper cables, Valley asked to borrow his cell phone.
