Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) maintenance crews are continuing to work daily on touching up striping on state roads around the region. Drivers should be aware of slow moving maintenance operations on roadways as crews continue to work on putting on a new coat of paint. When drivers see a MoDOT vehicle with flashing lights, they should remember to slow down or move over to avoid the work ahead. Often three or more maintenance vehicles will be spaced out over some distance to complete maintenance work. In St. Louis County, blasting operations on southbound I-270 near Big Bend is scheduled weekdays at 1 p.m., and will continue weekly, weather permitting. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis work zones for April 18-24.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close the ramp from Pine Street to westbound Interstate 64 at 9 a.m., Thursday as part of the Jefferson Avenue bridge closure. The Jefferson Avenue bridge over I-64 will close on Friday morning at 1 a.m., for approximately three months. Motorists can use Compton Avenue, 18th Street and 14th Street to detour around the closure. MoDOT will close all lanes on I-64 in both directions between Hampton and Jefferson this weekend starting at 8 p.m., Friday. Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) workers will be busy the next few months with routine and seasonal tasks, such as pavement repairs and crack sealing. Motorists should watch for slow moving or stopped vehicles with flashing lights in traffic lanes on interstates and other busy roadways. MoDOT has scheduled nighttime closures of ramps on the Poplar Street Bridge next week so crews can complete preventative maintenance on the ramps, weather permitting. During this holiday weekend, motorists need to be aware of two major impacts to traffic, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). All lanes and ramps of Interstate 64 between Hampton and Forest Park avenues will be closed from Friday night until early Monday morning. In addition, westbound Interstate 70 at the Blanchette Missouri River Bridge will be reduced to only one lane open late Friday night until early Saturday morning. The detour for westbound I-64 will be to get off the interstate at the Forest Park Avenue exit (exit 38A) and follow Forest Park Avenue to Kingshighway. Up to two lanes will be closed on southbound Interstate 270 overnight Monday through Wednesday between Manchester Road and I-44 as part of a widening project, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). Overnight closures of various ramps and lanes will occur on the Poplar Street Bridge in downtown St. Louis Sunday through Wednesday evening. Two entrance ramps to I-70 from Mid Rivers Mall Drive will close beginning Monday, March 18, weather permitting. The loop ramp from northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive to westbound I-70, and the loop ramp from southbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive to eastbound I-70 will close. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) warns that crews may be out treating roadways and plowing in the coming week. Drivers give the trucks plenty of room to work. Commuters should also be aware of changing roadway conditions, especially in the mornings. They should slow down, and be prepared for possible ice, especially on ramps and bridges. As the weather clears, maintenance workers will be completing needed roadway maintenance, such as pavement repairs and crack sealing. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) reports that Mardi Gras will impact traffic this weekend. On Saturday, the following ramps will be closed for Mardi Gras from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Beginning Feb. 11, crews working on the new I-64 Daniel Boone Missouri River Bridge will have once a day closures of I-64 for rock blasting adjacent to the eastbound lanes of I-64 at the St Charles County end of the bridge. I-64 traffic will be slowed and potentially stopped for up to 10 minutes at either 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. weekdays for approximately one month. The removal of two bridges over Interstate 64 is pushed back another week.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has delayed a planned weekend closure of Interstate 64 downtown until Feb. 1. The department will now close all lanes and ramps of Interstate 64 in both directions downtown between Hampton and Forest Park Parkway at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. The closure is weather permitting and may be delayed due to temperatures or significant precipitation. While the interstate is closed, crews will remove the Taylor and Newstead bridges over I-64 as part of a project to construct a new interchange at Tower Grove and Boyle and replace four bridges over the interstate. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close the Taylor and Newstead bridges over Interstate 64 starting after morning rush period Monday Jan. 21. On Jan 21-23, crews will close the inside lane on I-64 in both directions overnight to fill in the rumble strips. Work will start about 8 p.m. Monday on the eastbound lanes and then will move to the westbound lanes after eastbound is finished. Lanes will be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. the following morning. MoDOT has a full closure of both eastbound and westbound I-64 from Kingshighway Boulevard to Forest Park Parkway scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 25 to remove the Taylor and Newstead bridges.
