Pershing Gym Dedicated to Richard Dockett Friday

The School District of University City held the dedication during the 'Jazz Under the Stars' event.

The School District of University City dedicated the Pershing Elementary School gymnasium to Richard Dockett, an active community member who resides in the 3rd Ward of University City. Dockett was honored for his dedication to the students of the district and particularly Pershing Elementary School.  See a complete photo gallery from the dedication on University City Patch's Facebook page. Following the dedication, a formal plaque replaced the framed photo of Walter Daniels, a former Board member. The Pershing school library was renamed “The Walter Daniels Library” in August 2012.  See more on Richard Dockett: Join University City Patch for more community news or join us on Facebook and Twitter.

Maggie, my compliments on an exemplary job of reporting and photography at this event honoring one of our outstanding citizens, of which we have many. This was such a novel presentation in that Richard Dockett is alive and still able to appreciate it. Mr Walter Daniels received his posthumously, but those of us who knew him, along with his family,d appreciate the ceremony. Thanks!!   more ›
