Want to watch the Oscars live tonight on the big screen? The Tivoli Theatre is hosting a free watch party tonight in the Delmar Loop. The event begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the Tivoli. Admission is free and donations of non-perishable food items, canned and boxed goods, will be accepted for Operation Food Search, a leading hunger relief organization in the St. Louis region.

Did you know that having close, platonic girlfriends can literally save a woman's life? A UCLA study on women's friendships found that study participants who had the most friends throughout a nine-year period reduced their risk of death by nearly 60 percent. The need for community with other women is built into our DNA, according to Shelly E. Taylor in her book The Tending Instinct. Taylor also points out that while men who marry are more likely to live longer than those who don't, marriage doesn't seem to have the same effect on women. People who love flicks will get their kicks Sunday at the Tivoli Theatre. That’s because the Tivoli and the St. Louis Film Critics Association are co-sponsoring a free Oscar Night party that will make everyone feel like a movie star. Oscar Night is like the Super Bowl for movie fans. In addition to recognizing the year’s best work in film, the 83rd Academy Awards will deliver some great speeches, crazy outfits, wonderful performances and outstanding tributes to the past year at the movies.
