UPDATE: Police: U City Man Charged with Murder Was Being Robbed as He Sold Marijuana

Police said Otha Liggins was robbed as he sold marijuana to Eric Gray and Orlando McLamb-Rice, and then Liggins shot Gray.

A University City teen killed Tuesday was robbing the man who shot him, according to St. Louis County Circuit Court documents. University City Police said in the report that Shawn N. Lackland, 21,  provided a handgun to Eric Gray Jr, 16. Police said Lackland gave the handgun to Gray so he and Orlando McLamb-Rice, 19, could rob Otha Liggins, 23, of the 7400 block of Saleen, University City. Liggins met Gray and Rice to selling them marijuana, according to court documents. During the attempted robbery in the rear of 1089 North Hanley, Liggins shot Gray in the head, killing him, police said. Two weapons were recovered at the scene. One handgun was found next to Gray. Three Charged With Murder After Tuesday Shooting

The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Eric Waldon Gray Jr.

Three men have been charged with second degree murder following the death of Eric Waldon Gray Jr., 16. Gray was shot Tuesday in the 1000 block of Hanley in University City. According to University City Police Capt. Michael Ransom, the three charged in connection with the shooting are: According to a police report, at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the alley in the rear of the 1000 block of Hanley for the report of shots fired.  Officers discovered one male victim, later identified as Gray, of the 3100 block of Maywood, who had been shot in the head. The victim was conveyed to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries. A weapon was recovered next to the victim.  A second weapon was recovered at the scene, which is …
