Vote Now: Delmar Loop Businesses Up for Awards

Loop businesses are nominated for awards.

University City residents know how great our local businesses and restaurants are—now it's time to tell everyone else. Several Delmar Loop favorites are nominated for Alive Magazine awards.  This year's Alive Magazine Hot List Reader's Choice Poll features many of The Loop's restaurants and businesses. 'Dine Out for Dogs' at Three Kings, Nico Tuesday

The University City restaurants are participating in "Dine Out for Dogs" to raise money for the Humane Society of Missouri.

Nico and Three Kings Public House in the Delmar Loop are participating in "Dine Out for Dogs," a fundraiser at St. Louis-area restaurants to benefit the Humane Society of Missouri. At Milagro, 10 percent of the entire day's sales Feb. 19 will go toward the Humane Society's Animal Cruelty Fund. NY Post Likes Nico and Seoul Taco, Mission Taco Reveals Menu

A look at what's going on in the restaurant world in University City and the Delmar Loop.

Mission Taco Joint is planning to open in the Delmar Loop in late February.  Sauce Magazine has a preview of the draft menu. Quoting from Sauce: The tightly focused menu begins with a handful of shared appetizers. Highlights include crab taquitos as well as roasted mushrooms with huitlachoche, goat cheese and arugula presented in a fried corn masa base called a huarache. A la carte tacos include popular choices such as baja fish and carne asada, but Mission gets creative with quite a few others, such as the chile-roasted duck with crisp pork belly and avocado serrano sauce. The menu also beckons for vegetarians with options like a roasted cactus taco or one featuring the local product Mofu tofu. The restaurant will feature giant Mission-…

Right in the heart of The Delmar Loop sits Nico, 6525 Delmar Blvd, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that took over the space where Brandt’s Café formerly resided. Those of you familiar with Franco, a French bistro in St. Louis, might have heard of Nico, which is considered Franco’s younger brother. Having never dined at Franco, I didn’t know what to expect when I stopped in for brunch on a recent Sunday and found myself pleasantly blown away by every aspect of my meal. First, it should be noted that any establishment offering brunch in University City is a win in my book. There’s Booster’s Café and several coffee shops that offer food in the first part of the day, but Nico undoubtedly offered the most inventive brunch menu. No scrambled…
