U City Man Starved Horses, Humane Society Says

The man was charged with two counts of animal abuse; his horses were found in Kinloch.

A University City man faces charges for not feeding or caring for two horses in Kinloch. The Humane Society of Missouri filed a report that said Eric Hearton, 45, of the 1000 block of Raisher Drive in University City, failed to care for two sorrel horses near the corner of Gregory and Mable in Kinloch. The Humane Society’s report reads that the two horses have been abused as a result of Hearton’s failure to care for them. “The horses are emaciated with no food, water or adequate shelter where the horses were found, and they are in dire need of health care,” the report reads. Helping With Kinloch's Cleanup

Over the weekend, I helped residents and volunteers during Kinloch’s city-wide cleanup. The city is the oldest African-American community in the state of Missouri and was once home to a vibrant and flourishing black community. However, the city of Kinloch has been neglected for decades and has lost more than 75 percent of its population over the years. The city has very few resources and relies heavily on the work of residents and volunteers working to rehabilitate the area. Congressman Russ Carnahan also volunteered, and I was delighted to see him spend some time with residents in my district.
