Jilly's Makes Top 50 Cupcakes in U.S. List

Jilly's French Silk cupcake was named one of the best in the country.

The Daily Meal has named its top 50 cupcakes in the United States and Jilly's Cupcake Bar's French Silk cupcake made the cut. The site evaluated the must-have cupcake at the bakeries. The bakeries were judged on menu, cupcake design and frosting to cake ratio. Each category was scored on a 1-10 basis.  Jilly's received a 9 for both menu and design, but only a 5 rating in the frosting-to-cake category. Other notable bakeries on the list include Georgetown Cupcake, which is featured in the TLC show D.C. Cupcakes; Sprinkles Cupcakes in Los Angeles, which boasts that it is the world's first cupcake bakery and Magnolia Bakery in New York. See more on Patch:

Jilly's Named a Great Place for a Gourmet Cupcake

Local cupcakery made USA Today's top 10 list.

University City's own Jilly's Cupcake Bar was named one of the top 10 places in the United States to get a gourmet cupcake by USA Today. Justin Willman, host of Cupcake Wars on Food Network, shared his favorite cupcakes from his travels. Tops on his list is Jilly's Reese's Chunkage, a half-pound cupcake. According to Willman, the cupcake is filled with peanut butter mousse and chocolate fudge ganache, topped with peanut butter and chocolate butter cream, and finished with chunks of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Chamber to Hold First Networking Coffee

Event will be held Thursday at Jilly's.

The University City Chamber of Commerce will hold a morning networking coffee event Thursday at Jilly's Cupcake Bar. The event will run from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Coffee and coffecake will be available for purchase. This is an informal networking event. This is an open event.

Council Greenlights Two U City Liquor Licenses; Street Resurfacing Contract

The council unanimously approved granting liquor licenses to Jilly's Cupcake Bar and Queen of Sheba restaurant.

On Monday night the city council voted in favor of granting liquor licenses to two University City businesses. The council voted unanimously to approve a liquor license for Jilly’s Cupcake Bar, located at 8509 Delmar Blvd. and Queen of Sheba at 6665 Olive Blvd. City Manager Lehman Walker postponed action on a liquor license for Dollar General Store, located at 7900 Olive Blvd. Jilly's Cupcake Bar has had quite the year. In September, it showing off its expanded and remodeled digs. The new space includes more seating, a bigger kitchen and a party room for private events.
