Hunger Never Takes a Vacation Starts Today
Operation Food Search wants to ensure that children get fed throughout the summer months.
Summer vacation. For most children those are two of the sweetest words in their vocabulary. Nothing could be better than having week upon week stretch before you with no worries whatsoever. But unfortunately that’s not the case for all our community’s children. For thousands of children in the St. Louis region, summer vacation adds one huge worry. Summer vacation means not having enough to eat. The thousands of children that Operation Food Search serves are kids who, September through June, wake up every weekday morning knowing that today at least they will be able to have a nourishing breakfast and a hot lunch, courtesy of their school lunch or breakfast program.
