The fire damaged the home Sunday.
KMOV is reporting a University City home was damaged in an early morning fire Sunday, while the owners were reportedly out of town. Univeristy City Fire officials say the blaze started in the 6500 block of Corbitt just before 6:30 a.m. A neighbor told KMOV that the family that owns the home was out of town at the time of the fire. The house suffered moderate damage.
University City escaped any major damage from last night's powerful storm.
There was very little visible damage in University City Monday morning, following a powerful overnight storm. Driving around the City, tree branches were broken, small limbs are down, but it appears U City escaped any major damage. The University City Fire Department reports it responded to an electrical fire at a house on the 7000 block of Melrose. The department says tree limbs that were knocked loose by the storm pulled down electrical wires, causing them to short out and create sparks, which caught the house on fire. No one was hurt. Neighboring Richmond Heights was hit hard by the storm that tore down power lines along Big Bend Boulevard and pulled down trees nearby.
