Robbery Took Place at Defendants' Home, U City Police Say
The man arranged for the victim to come to his home to buy a handgun, then robbed him of his money and cell phone, police said.
A University City man arranged for a man to come to his house to buy a handgun and then robbed the man, police said. Wesley Hughes, 21, of the 1100 block of Backer Street in U City, was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery. University City Police said Hughes arranged to meet another man at Hughes’ home on Backer Street to sell him a handgun. When the man arrived, Hughes displayed an item that appeared to be a handgun and robbed the victim of $122 and his cell phone. Police said the victim identified Hughes as the person who robbed him. Officers searching Hughes’ home found the victim’s cell phone. Hughes is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond. For more crime information on University City Patch, see the …
