Services Set For Stan Musial

The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame legend died Saturday at the age of 92.

A public visitation for Stan Musial, the St. Louis Cardinals legend who died at his Ladue home Saturday at the age of 92, will be held Thursday at Cathedral Basillica, MLB.com reported Monday. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at the same location Saturday starting at 11 a.m. KMOX reports that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, the Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, and Bishop Richard Stika will officiate the mass. A procession will then lead to Busch Stadium for a ceremony at the Musial Statue. St. Louis County Reportedly Considers Funeral Protest Ban

The ban would be similar to the those passed by other St. Louis area cities, including Manchester.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger, D-Affton, wants to pass legislation that would restrict funeral protests. Stenger wants legislation that would mirror Creve Coeur's city ordinance which was passed this week by the city council, the Post reports. Creve Coeur and Clatyon have both recently passed ordinances similar to Manchester's city ordinance which prohibits protests within 300 feet of a funeral one hour before and one hour after services. Manchester's ordinance was put in place in response to protests like those by Westboro Baptist Church where members are known for anti-gay protests at the funerals of U.S. soldiers, claiming the soldiers' deaths are a result of America's tolerance for …

How to Help: Phillips Family Seeks Help with Funeral

Twelve-year-old Demetri Phillips was shot and killed Tuesday.

Since the tragic death of 12-year-old Demetri Phillips on Tuesday, the University City community has asked "how can I help?" According to the School District of University City, the Phillips family is seeking help with Demetri's funeral and burial costs. Interim Communications Director Shantana Stewart released the following statement: The family of Demetri Phillips, a sixth-grader at Brittany Woods Middle School, who passed away this week, is asking that anyone who is interested in lending a helping hand, as they face funeral and burial costs during the holidays, visit any Bank of America and mention Demetri Phillips when they make a donation. Hundreds Attend Funeral For University City Deputy Police Chief Ernest Green

Hundreds of people turned out for the funeral of University City Deputy Police Chief Ernest Green.

A week after his death, University City Deputy Police Chief Ernest Green has been laid to rest. Green was buried Monday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Pagedale. He died last Monday of brain cancer. He was 46-years-old. Earlier Monday, hundreds of mourners turned out for Green's funeral at Florissant Church of Christ. For several hours, a steady stream of people walked in and out of the church, paying their respects.

Colleague Remembers Deputy Chief Ernest Green

Colleague remembers Deputy Police Chief Ernest Green as a mentor and good friend.

The outpouring of grief and remembrance's over the death of University City Deputy Police Chief Ernest Green continue to roll in. "Ernest was a good friend and mentor," said Demetrius Hatley, a U.S. Probation Officer and Green's colleague at the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives. Green was the immediate past national president of NOBLE, his term having ended in July. Green died Monday at age 46. He had brain cancer. Hatley said Green "was very passionate about serving his community and impacted may lives in a variety of ways."  "We shared a lot of great moments together," said Hatley.
