The School District of University City has revised its agenda for tonight's school board meeting. The board will swear in its newly elected board members, but the board will not reorganize until its next regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, April 18. The items on the workshop agenda are: The public is invited to observe, but not participate in the workshop.
The board will hold a special meeting to administer the oath of office.
The School District of University City will hold a special meeting Thursday, April 4, to swear in its newly elected board of education members. The meeting is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Tom Peters and Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal each won re-election Tuesday. The only other item on the agenda is the reorganization of the board. The voters of the School District of University City have put their votes where their money is, approving the Proposition U no-tax increase bond issue. With 20 of 20 precincts counted, the measure was approved 2,868 to 1,241 or 69.8 percent to 30.2 percent. The issue needed a 4/7 majority or 57.15 of the total vote. Nothing comes for free and that includes running for office. In addition to raising money, candidates from school board to president of the United States are required to file campaign finance reports. Candidates for public office and committees formed for the passage of a bond like Proposition U on the April 2 ballot, are required to file reports with the Saint Louis County Elections Board and Missouri Ethics Commission.
