Cicero's Pizza Wins Award, Make Eclipse's Potato Gratin

Honors abound for local restaurants and food.

The eateries in the Delmar Loop and around University City are some of the best in the area. This week, several have gotten honors for their food. Cicero's Pizza Named One of the Midwest's Best Midwest Living Magazine recently named Cicero's one of the 27 Great Midwest Pizzerias. The magazine recommends trying "the shrimp scampi, with a rich garlic butter white wine sauce, shrimp, fresh parsley, Provel and mozzarella on a waferlike crust." Moonrise Hotel Voted "Best of the Midwest" by AAA Readers

Second year in a row the Delmar Loop hotel has taken this award.

The results are in — the Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis, has been voted “Best Small Hotel” by the readers of AAA Midwest Traveler in the annual “Best of the Midwest” Awards. This is the second year in a row Moonrise Hotel has taken home this honor. Opened in April 2009, this 125-room chic, boutique hotel is located in the heart of the Delmar Loop, designated by the American Planning Association as “One of the 10 Great Streets in America.” Distributed in Missouri, eastern Kansas, southern Illinois, and southwestern Indiana, AAA Midwest Traveler has a circulation of 550,000. Moonrise Hotel Hosts Green Ball Friday

Event benefits the Earthways Center.

On Friday green-minded movers and shakers will gather in the Delmar Loop for an evening of green fun, fabulous entertainment and local philanthropy. They will be kicking off the third annual Green Ball, hosted by Moonrise Hotel. The gala, which begins at 7 p.m., will mark the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day and the third anniversary of the Moonrise Hotel’s opening. Proceeds from the Green Ball will benefit the EarthWays Center, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden that promotes sustainability through environmental education and improving the built environment.
