Could this be the best “decked” house in the country? Possibly. Congrats to Patrick and Denise Dolan for being chosen as one of the 24 finalists in Patch's Deck the House contest! The Dolan’s Christmas decorations are so elaborate that Patrick Dolan finally bought a second electric service so they could run the washing machine and microwave at the same time as the nativity scene and the singing Santa. Patrick added 5,000 lights this year, drawing a total of more than 100 amps of power. Patch is launching its annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country—the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page from Nov. 26 to Dec. 16 (Check back here next Monday for a direct link to our contest page so you can enter). Only residents of Patch towns are eligible to enter. We’ll select 24 regional finalists, and from them, pick one grand prize winner. Patch.com is launching a nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in its Patch communities, and the winner’s school district will receive $100,000, no strings attached. Here’s how the contest works. Beginning on Dec. 8 and continuing through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site. During that same time period you and your neighbors will also be able to vote for your favorite festive home. The winning entry will be forwarded to a national Patch judge that will select 24 finalists. Each finalist will receive $500 that they can apply to their December electric bill. Well, I think this is wonderful. My home is on the school bus route and the street has lots of traffic. I'd be more than willing to allow the U. City School District to decorate my outside residence. I have many decorations all they would need is volunteer students and adult volunteers for supervision. The Art students should be involved to create an awesome design.
