Crafting-A-Future Opening Reception Tonight

The opening reception for the student exhibition is tonight.

Craft Alliance (CA) is pleased to announce the opening of the Crafting-A-Future Student Exhibition.  The opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at CA’s Charak Gallery in the Delmar Loop. Crafting-A-Future (CAF) is a multi-year mentoring program that provides talented, underserved high school students throughout the St. Louis metro area with in-depth arts education. In order to develop a body of work, students work closely with local artists in CA’s jewelry/metalsmithing, fiber, clay, wood, and graphics studios. CAF nurtures students in their pursuit of an art education beyond what is offered in high school programs. In addition to their studio time, students are exposed to the work of internationally and …

Clayton Residents Host Craft Alliance's Fundraiser Kickoff

Pat Whitaker and Dick Miles held a cocktail reception at their home Feb. 22 in honor of the upcoming ARTrageous Baubles Ball.

Two Clayton residents recently hosted a kickoff for Craft Alliance's ARTrageous Baubles Ball, which will raise funds for youth arts education. The cocktail reception happened Feb. 22 at the Clayton home of Pat Whitaker and Dick Miles. Craft Alliance, based in neighboring University City, provides free art-driven educational programs to 4,500 students yearly, a news release states. The ball will run from 6 to 11 p.m. April 13 at the Palladium Saint Louis. The evening will include art, jewelry, fashion, music and a guest appearance by Valerie Steele, director of The Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, according to the release. On Friday, April 13, Craft Alliance will host its ARTrageous Baubles Ball at the Palladium in the Lafayette Square neighborhood. This year’s event will dazzle your eyes with outrageous baubles, bangles and bling! Transform yourself with your most colorful sparkles and jewels, and join us for an unforgettable evening of fantastic jewelry and art! The gala kicks off at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception, a silent auction and hot musical entertainment. The DJ will be New York designer Timo Weiland. The co-chairs of the event are Anjali and Atul Kamra and Susan Barrett, with guest of honor Valerie Steele. Craft Alliance to Hold Teapot Exhibition

The 13th biennial teapot exhibit opens March 9.

The Craft Alliance (CA) in University City will host a new exhibit in March — HOT TEA: 13th Biennial Teapot Exhibition. The opening reception is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 9 in CA’s gallery in the Delmar Loop. Throughout the world, the drinking of tea is an integral part of the social fabric, from the everyday sharing of tea amongst friends to the traditional tea ceremony in Japan. The common thread linking all of these tea-time traditions is the dynamic of sharing. For this exhibition, artists from all media (clay, fiber, glass, metal and wood) share their appreciation and interpretation of the teapot with CA.  The roster of participating artists is impressive; this year’s exhibit includes 50 artists, 20 of whom are local or regional.
