Have you ever wondered what those nondescript brown buildings standing behind Club Fitness and the Market Pub House in the Loop are? Maybe you have no idea what I’m talking about; the buildings tend to blend in with the surroundings if you aren’t looking for them. These buildings house University City’s year-round farmer’s market, provided by Long Acres Farm. The market is open every Thursday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Even now, with piles of snow on the ground, the Long Acres employees loyally return, bundling up all day to provide some of the freshest produce I’ve found in U-City. Mary, thanks for the update. This is helpful to know. Also, it is important that you take EBT foodstamps for payment. Several farmers' markets in STL do not do this, making it more difficult for low-income families to purchase fresh, local food.   more ›
