Cicero's Pizza Wins Award, Make Eclipse's Potato Gratin

Honors abound for local restaurants and food.

The eateries in the Delmar Loop and around University City are some of the best in the area. This week, several have gotten honors for their food. Cicero's Pizza Named One of the Midwest's Best Midwest Living Magazine recently named Cicero's one of the 27 Great Midwest Pizzerias. The magazine recommends trying "the shrimp scampi, with a rich garlic butter white wine sauce, shrimp, fresh parsley, Provel and mozzarella on a waferlike crust." Beer Choices: The Loop Has Two of St. Louis' Best

A new poll ranks the best beer selection in the area. Of the top eight, two bars are located in the Delmar Loop.

The Riverfront Times recently named the eight bars with the best beer selection in the St. Louis area and two Delmar Loop establishments made the list.  Three Kings Public House and Cicero'sWith more than 200 different bottle selections and some 50 beers on tap, Cicero's is a beer nerd's heaven." Mid-County Readers Say Cicero's has the Best Italian Food

A fixture in the Loop since 1977, the restaurant serves up delicious entrees, a wide variety of beer and live music.

Cicero's Restaurant in University City is the winner of this week's Food Fight, in which we asked readers for their choice for the best Mid-County Italian restaurants. Cicero's won with 44 percent of the vote among the four finalists. The results among the other finalists were: Voting in our Italian Fight poll started Monday morning and ended at 5 p.m. Friday afternoon. Congratulations to Cicero's for winning this week's Mid-County Food Fight battle. We look forward to hearing from you again in next week's edition of Food Fight.
