Reports: 12 Year Old Shot, Killed Tuesday in U City
The child was shot by a friend, according to reports.
A 12-year-old child was shot and killed tonight in University City, according to reports. KSDK reports that University City Police were called to a home in the 1500 block of Westmont Place around 6 p.m. for a report of a 12-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The child was taken to Children's Hospital where he later died. According to KMOV, the gun belonged to the grandfather of a classmate of the victim. The children were playing at the grandfather's home. At some point, the children got a hold of the grandfather’s handgun, which was in an unlocked bedroom. The boys were playing with gun when it went off, shooting the victim in the head. The other child was taken to Family Court as the investigation continues. This is a breaking story. …

With all due respect, I send my condolences for your loss. Why do people even have guns when they somehow find their way into obviously the wrong hands? The police had a Gun Buy Back program several years ago and were handing out cash for weapons at and arranged location that was in practically every newspaper, television and radio station newscasts at the time.
