Man Finds Burglar in His University City Home, Police Say

Brandon L. Moore is being charged with first-degree burglary and misdemeanor theft after police say he was found inside a University Home by a homeowner.

A man is accused of burglary after a University City resident found him in his home on April 18. Brandon L. Moore, 31, of the 1100 block of Backer Street in University City, was charged April 19 with first-degree burglary, misdemeanor stealing and stealing a credit card. University City Police said the resident heard a noise at his front door about 6:40 a.m. on April 18 and went inside to find Moore standing in his home. The resident confronted Moore and told him to leave, police said. Minutes later, he realized he was missing a credit card and $45 from his wallet and his front door had been pried open. Second Man Charged in U City Burglary on Orchard Avenue

University City Police said at least two men stole two televisions and cash from the home.

A second man was charged with an October burglary in the 8300 block of Orchard Avenue in University City. John Gathright, 19, of the 1500 block of Eastmont Place in University City, was charged with second-degree burglary and felony stealing. University City Police said Gathright and Kenneth Reed entered the home between 7 and 9:50 p.m. Oct. 20 and stole two flat-screen televisions and $379 cash. Reed was charged Jan. 18 with the break-in. Court documents indicated there may be one other person involved in the burglary. Bail was set at $35,000 for Gathright.
