Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of March 4-10, 2013. The department arrested 54 adults and one juvenile. There was one robbery, six burglaries and one charge of knowingly burning. Officers responded to an alarm sounding and discovered damage to a door was consistent with an attempt to kick it in, but the door jamb prevented entry. Officers responded to an open door call. Upon arrival, a witness identified a gold SUV in the driveway of the vacant residence and 2 black males carrying items from the building. Calvin S. Williams also was on probation for a burglary in University City when police said he tried to steal athletic shoes from Sports Authority in Kirkwood.
A University City man has been charged with his sixth stealing offense after being accused of shoplifting. Calvin S. Williams, 32, of the 7300 block of Tulane Avenue in University City, was charged Wednesday with stealing as a third offense, a class D felony. Kirkwood Police said Williams tried to return shoes for a cash refund that he had not purchased at about 4:36 p.m. Aug. 9 at Sports Authority, 1205 South Kirkwood Road in Kirkwood. Security personnel saw him remove a security sensor from a pair of Asics athletic shoes and brought the shoes for a refund. Security personnel called the cashier and told her not to complete the transaction, and Williams grabbed the shoes and ran from the store, police said. Bridgeton Police later arrested …

Each week, University City Patch features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Feb. 25 to March 3, 2013. The department arrested 37 adults and one juvenile. There was one report of stealing, one report of shots fired and a burglary. The victim stated person(s) unknown fired shots at the residence. The department arrested 52 adults and one juvenile. There were six burglaries. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown forced the front door of residence and stole electronics. The reporting party stated that person(s) unknown unlawfully entered the residence and stole copper piping and turn-on valves. A suspect has been identified and is being sought. One man eluded police after a chase led into the city of St. Louis, where the getaway car crashed Tuesday.
A man and a woman face charges for a Tuesday burglary as University City Police search for a third suspect in the burglary. Keisha Tyler, 22, of the 6500 block of Alabama Avenue in St. Louis, and Eric Irons, 21, of the 6800 block of Plymouth Avenue in University City, were charged with second-degree burglary and felony stealing. Tyler also was charged with resisting arrest. University City Police said Tyler drove Irons and another man to the 6800 block of Plymouth Avenue near Irons’ home. Irons and the other man went inside the home and took two flat-screen televisions and X-Box and PlayStation 3 game systems and loaded the items into the car. University City Police have charged two suspects; one person remains at large.
Two people have been charged in connection with a burglary that occurred on Tuesday. See our previous story: U City Police Arrest Burglary Suspect After Chase According to KMOV, 22-year-old Keisha Nicole Tyler and 21-year-old Eric Irons were both charged with second-degree burglary. Tyler also was charged with resisting arrest by flight. University City Police told Patch on Tuesday that the burglary and chase began in the 6800 block of Plymouth. KMOV reports that Tyler, Irons, and another man burglarized a home, stealing electronics. The three then made a get away with Tyler driving the get away vehicle. The suspect fled and was caught after a crash in St. Louis.
University City Police apprehended a burglar Tuesday following a car chase into the City of St. Louis According to KMOV, police caught a suspect burglarizing a home Tuesday afternoon. The suspect jumped in a vehicle and fled, starting a pursuit. The suspect's vehicle eventually crashed near the intersection of Etzel and Hodiamont in the City of St. Louis. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Police told Patch that the burglary and chase began in the 6800 block of Plymouth. No officers were injured in the pursuit.
University City Police said at least two men stole two televisions and cash from the home.
A second man was charged with an October burglary in the 8300 block of Orchard Avenue in University City. John Gathright, 19, of the 1500 block of Eastmont Place in University City, was charged with second-degree burglary and felony stealing. University City Police said Gathright and Kenneth Reed entered the home between 7 and 9:50 p.m. Oct. 20 and stole two flat-screen televisions and $379 cash. Reed was charged Jan. 18 with the break-in. Court documents indicated there may be one other person involved in the burglary. Bail was set at $35,000 for Gathright.
