U City Man Charged With Sixth Stealing Offense Since 2009

Calvin S. Williams also was on probation for a burglary in University City when police said he tried to steal athletic shoes from Sports Authority in Kirkwood.

A University City man has been charged with his sixth stealing offense after being accused of shoplifting. Calvin S. Williams, 32, of the 7300 block of Tulane Avenue in University City, was charged Wednesday with stealing as a third offense, a class D felony. Kirkwood Police said Williams tried to return shoes for a cash refund that he had not purchased at about 4:36 p.m. Aug. 9 at Sports Authority, 1205 South Kirkwood Road in Kirkwood. Security personnel saw him remove a security sensor from a pair of Asics athletic shoes and brought the shoes for a refund. Security personnel called the cashier and told her not to complete the transaction, and Williams grabbed the shoes and ran from the store, police said. Bridgeton Police later arrested …

University City Man Harrassed Woman, Threatened Her Life, Police Say

Bridgeton Police said Karl Edwards' threats caused the woman to fear for her life.

A University City man faces criminal charges for threatening a woman’s life with repeated phone calls and face-to-face threats. Karl Edwards, 32, of the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in University City, was charged Sunday with third-degree assault and harassment. Bridgeton Police said Edwards pointed a finger at the woman and threatened her at about 2:48 a.m. Feb. 27 in the 12000 block of Chaparral Drive in Bridgeton. The assault charge is based on the Feb. 27 incident because prosecutors said Edwards caused the woman to fear for her safety At about 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, police said Edwards began calling the woman repeatedly and threatened to kill her. U City Man Used Fake ID to Buy iPads, Laptops, Police Say

Police said the man used an ID with his own photo and another person's information.

A man stole $3,459 in merchandise from a Bridgeton store by using a fake ID with someone else’s vital information, police said. Tommie G. Roach, 31, of the 7400 block of Canton Avenue in University City, was charged Saturday with identity theft. Bridgeton Police said Roach used a fake drivers license with someone else’s information and his photo to steal $3,459 in electronic items from Best Buy, 12140 St. Charles Rock Road. Police said Roach bought two iPads and two laptop computers using the fake ID at 8:32 p.m. Saturday. Bail was set at $15,000 for Roach. He was released Sunday.
