The Lions offense has had a great season, but the U.City defense has been weak and was no match for Parkway Central in a 57-27 loss in week four.
Since the start of preseason training camp, Parkway Central’s Brandon Sheperd has been one of the most lauded and talked about high school football players in the area. And for good reason. Sheperd was part of a potent Colts attack that jumped all over University City early on Friday night. Sheperd is considered one of the top prep receivers in the nation, and he’s being recruited by nearly every top college program in the Midwest, who all hope that he’ll choose their school to play ball at next season. But on Friday night, a new star emerged for the Colts and stole the show (at least temporarily) from the superstar Sheperd. The Lions are coming off of a big win last week, but now have to travel to play undefeated Parkway Central in the Colts' homecoming game.
Friday Night Lights: University City (1-2) at Parkway Central (3-0) University City went just 1-9 in the 2010 season, but already earned its first win of this year by stunning Parkway North last week, 25-20. The Lions will visit Parkway Central on Friday night at 7 p.m. in a Suburban South Conference game. Senior quarterback DeAndre Williams had a breakout performance for the Lions, passing for 339 yards and three touchdowns, along with a touchdown run as U. City held off the visiting Vikings in a thrilling early evening game. Williams’ favorite passing targets are Alex Henry and Mario Wallace, a pair of dynamic seniors that make a lot of plays for the Lions offense.
