Book Review: Spirits of St. Louis, by Ink and Drink Comics
Ink and Drink Comics’ first anthology is a book of many styles and temperaments and it’s worth a read for comics and local literature enthusiasts.
The St. Louis writers and artists who formed Ink and Drink Comics released their first anthology this fall. Self-published through Ka-Blam Digital Printing, the horror-themed paperback collection Spirits of St. Louis includes thirteen stories from local members who meet each month at an Applebee's, as well as remote contributors from Michigan, North Carolina and Louisiana. At least two of the members—Animals in Suits artist Sam Washburn and Star Clipper Comics General Manager John Scorfina—live in University City. The stories in the 80-page black-and-white book range the gamut from an exorcism at St. Louis University to a friendly bedroom monster to a graphic history of the Lemp Mansion.
