"Patch" had several St. Louis-area editors to nominate their favorite posts from Local Voices bloggers. After an overwhelming response, we've narrowed it down to the top seven.
Most Patch readers know that I’m a huge fan of our Local Voices bloggers. But many don’t realize that I’m not the only one—in fact, many of our St. Louis area editors feel the same way. That’s why this week, I asked my colleagues to nominate their favorite posts for the week. I got an overwhelming response, and to be honest, there isn’t enough space to share them all with you here, so I’ve narrowed it down a bit. By now, I’m pretty sure it’s common knowledge, but in case this is your first visit to Patch, I’ll just let you know: I’m a total blogger-groupie. Some might call it an addiction—but I call it an affinity. Luckily for me, I can get my blog fix right here in our Local Voices section. Every week, I find something new to love about those blogs. Young people are falsely posing as students of L’École Culinaire in an effort to get victims to buy phony magazine subscriptions, according to the Better Business Bureau.
The Better Business Bureau released the following alert Tuesday. St. Louis area residents should be alert for a new door-to-door magazine sales scam involving young people posing as students of L’École Culinaire, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns. A homeowner in the 5400 block of Pernod Avenue, in Kirkwood's North Hampton neighborhood, said she was approached by a young man and a woman last week who asked her to buy magazine subscriptions to be sent to servicemen and women overseas. They told her that they were enrolled at the well-known culinary school in St. Louis County and were raising money to further their studies in Italy. The homeowner said she became suspicious when she asked the young woman for the name of the street where …
