U City Ends MICDS Basketball Season

University City Edges Rams on their home court, 51-49.

The University City Lions ended the basketball season for the MICDS Rams on the Rams home court. In the Class 4, District 6 semifinals, the University City Lions defeated the host Rams, 51-49. U. City took an an early advantage, leading 12-7 at the quarter. In the second quarter, MICDS outscored the Lions 19-11. Robin Thompson led the way for the Rams with 16 points. Dartmouth bound Thomas Militello closed out his high school career with 10 points. Sophomore guard Rashad Lindsey had 8. Westminster Christian Academy rolled over Clayton in the other semifinal match. The Wildcats will face U. City Friday night at 8 p.m. in the championship game.

Cold Shooting, Loss To Webster Mar Night Of Celebration For U. City Hoops

U. City basketball program honored legendary coach Ed Crenshaw and star player Hasan Houston by naming the school gym and basketball court after them, in ceremony before Friday’s game against rival Webster Groves.

UNIVERSITY CITY HIGH SCHOOL – Ever since the schedule came out last summer, folks in and around the University City boys basketball program have had Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, highlighted as one of the biggest nights ever in U. City hoops history. Not only was Friday a big night for the Lions because they would be hosting longtime Suburban South Conference bully Webster Groves, which has won 10 straight league titles, hasn’t lost a Suburban South game since 2002, and boasts a 74-game conference winning streak. But it was also the night that U. City would finally get to honor two of its greatest program legends ever, by naming the school gym after legendary head coach Ed Crenshaw, and by dedicating the actual basketball court to 70s basketball …

UCHS to Dedicate Gym Next Month in Honor of Coach Edward Crenshaw

The gymnasium will be named in honor of Coach Edward Crenshaw, who coached the UCHS basketball team from 1974 to 1997.

University City High School will honor two outstanding alum next month by naming the school's gymnasium and basketball court after them. The gym will be named in honor of Coach Edward Crenshaw, who served as a physical education teacher and boys' basketball coach at UCHS from 1974 to 1997. During his tenure, Crenshaw logged more wins than any other boys’ basketball coach at University City High School. Crenshaw is tenth in the list of Missouri high school coaches with the most wins. He received the same accolade from St. Dominic High School last December, where he coached from 1960 until 1974, before leaving for University City High School.
