University City Driver Charged With DWI, Assaulting State Trooper

A Missouri Highway Patrol report indicated Michael Montgomery refused to pull over, leading him on a chase from I-70 and I-270 into St. Charles and back.

A University City man faces criminal charges after Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper reported that he tried to stop the driver for weaving, and pursued his car from Interstate 70 at Interstate 270 into St. Charles County and back into St. Louis County. Michael Montgomery, 30, of the 800 block of Barkley Square in University City, was charged March 29 with second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, driving while intoxicated as a prior offender, driving without a license, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to drive in a single lane. Montgomery eventually crashed his car on eastbound Pershall Road near New Halls Ferry Road, according to a court document. The trooper said in a report that Montgomery showed signs …

Update: Details Emerge on Police Chase Into University City

The chase ended when the University City man turned towards an officer and pulled a weapon out of his waistband, and the Maryland Heights officer fired a shot.

A University City man faces charges with two counts of assaulting an officer after a high-speed police chase that started in Maryland Heights Monday. Patch reported earlier that a man led several led several police agencies on a chase from Maryland Heights into University City late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Maryland Heights Police reported an officer had pulled over Jorge Wallace, 25, of the 600 block of Geoffry Lane in University City, at 11:48 p.m. Monday. The officer said the traffic stop, at Barrington and Summer House Drive, was for straddling the dividing lines on the road.
