Television Ad Wars: Carnahan Strikes Back

"Pay Day Clay" ad to start running on television.

One day after Rep. William Lacy Clay released his first television ad, Rep. Russ Carnahan released one of his own.  Clay and Carnahan, both incumbents, are facing off in the Aug. 7 Democratic primary. Carnahan's district was eliminated during redistricting after the 2010 census and he now resides in the 1st District. Carnahan's ad is titled "PayDay Clay."   In the ad, Carnahan questions Clay's ties to payday lenders. “Lacy Clay has taken $80,000 from the payday loan and rent to loan industry, and tells them, ‘I will always do my best to protect what really matters to you.'” the ad said. Television Ad Wars: Clay Strikes First

Rep. William Lacy Clay beats Rep. Russ Carnahan to the airwaves with his first television ad.

On Tuesday, three weeks before the Democratic primary for Missouri's 1st District, incumbent Rep. William Lacy Clay released his first television ad. Clay faces Rep. Russ Carnahan, 3rd District, in the Aug. 7 primary. Carnahan's district was eliminated during redistricting after the 2010 census and he now resides in the 1st District. Clay's ad is titled "A Democrat with a Backbone."   In the ad, Clay cites his stance on Medicare, a woman's right to choose and other issues.
