Blueberry Hill celebrated 40 years in the Delmar Loop Saturday, Sept. 8, with a bash that celebrated its history and looked to the future. Film clips of opening night were shown while guests in the Duck Room party were asked to write notes for a time capsule to be opened on Blueberry Hill's 50th anniversary in 2022. In the 40 days before the 40th anniversary, the restaurant and bar held several different contests. The winners are listed below. Blueberry Hill, in the heart of the Delmar Loop, will celebrat its 40th Anniversary tonight at the restaurant. 40 days of contests, specials and events will culminate in a party not to be missed. The celebration kicks into gear at 8 p.m. and includes: Joe Edwards, owner of Blueberry Hill, shared his memories of 40 years in the Loop with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Delmar Loop's iconic restaurant, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next week, is selling collectibles and music posters.
Blueberry Hill, in the heart of the Delmar Loop, is a treasure trove of rock 'n roll collectibles. This weekend, patrons will get a chance to own a piece of Blueberry Hill history for themselves. The restaurant is hosting a special collectibles garage sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Elvis Room as part of its 40th Anniversary bash countdown to Sept. 8. Rock & Roll Beer cans, Simpsons figurines, Blueberry Hill t-shirts, Pez dispensers and more will be on sale. There will be $1, $2, $5, $10 and $25 tables of fun collectibles and music posters. The Delmar Loop landmark will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Sept. 8.
Blueberry Hill kicked off the 40 day countdown to its 40th anniversary Tuesday with the announcement of a fan video contest of the song Blueberry Hill. Participants must send Blueberry Hill a link to a YouTube video of them singing a version of Blueberry Hill, made famous by Fats Domino. Blueberry Hill will post the entries on its Facebook page under the YouTube tab. The top four videos with the most likes will win the chance to perform on the Duck Room stage the evening of their anniversary bash on Sept. 8. Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of Title IX, a portion of the Equal Opportunity Act which was added to the U.S. Constitution on June 23, 1972. The policy states (in part) that “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity.” The law is one of the most important civil rights successes in American education because it opened the door for young women to be included in the same activities as men.
