U City School Board Member Rod Jennings Honored for Saving Police Officer's Life

Jennings saved the life of a Normandy police officer while working in the area.

Rod Jennnings, board secretary for the School District of University City board of education, was honored Tuesday night for his heroic actions.

Jennings saved the life of a Normandy police officer after Pete Liparoto as injured chasing a suspect. 

According to Fox 2, Liparoto tackled a burglary suspect but slid head first into the metal lip of a wall.

The injury caused the officer to lose 5 pints of blood, severe an artery and his jaw muscle was torn from his skull.

Jennings was performing a home remodeling job on Contour Drive when he saw the officer in need of help. Jennings ran to the officer with a towel.

Jennings told Fox 2, "I took the flap of skin and put it back in place, covered the rest of his head and I continued to talk to him to make sure he didn't go into shock."
