A Gala Evening in University City

COCAcabana and the Green Ball bring out an array of do-gooders to the Delmar Loop Friday night.

The starts were out Friday night on the Delmar Loop in supporting two great causes.

The Center of Creative Arts () held its annual fundraiser, COCAcabana, at  and the Green Ball was held at the Moonrise Hotel.

COCAcabana is COCA's annual signature spring fundraiser. COCAcabana is known for its creative themes that are uniquely COCA. 

Funds raised at COCAcabana support COCA's multidisciplinary programs including the COCA Family Theatre Series, educational classes and workshops in dance, music, drama, and visual arts for all ages, and contemporary art exhibits in the Millstone Gallery.

This year's event featured celebrity guests and St. Louis natives Scott Foley, Ellie Kemper and Sarah Clarke. Foley graduated from  and has appeared in televisions shows such as Felicity, The Unit and Grey's Anatomy.

Kemper is a graduate of . She is a regular on NBC's The Office and was one of the stars of Bridesmaids. She is the granddaugher of Mildred Lane Kemper, the namesake of the art museum at . Clarke also is a Burroughs graduate who played Bella's mother in the Twilight movie series.

Green Ball

Proceeds from the 3rd annual gala benefit the EarthWays Center, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden that promotes sustainability through environmental education and improving the built environment.

While the Missouri Botanical Garden’s mission is to protect and preserve plants, the EarthWays Center’s specifically focuses on those whom are the greatest threat to plants and the environment – people. The Center offers more than 20 programs and projects on sustainable living and learning for students, educators, community leaders and green building professionals and contractors in Missouri.
