More items & more renewals

Over the last few weeks, University City Public Library has made some changes to our checkout policies, and we think you’re going to like them. We’ve reduce the fines on overdue DVDs from 50 cents a day to 20 cents a day, meaning that all adult items now have the same overdue fines. (Kids’ DVDs are also 20 cents a day, but all other overdue children’s materials are 10 cents a day.)
We’ve also increased the number of DVDs and CDs you can check out. You can now check out up to 12 DVDs at a time (up from 10), and 12 CDs that have cards at a time (up from 6). The number of classical and opera CDs you can check out remains unlimited.
Additionally, any item can now be renewed three times, as long as nobody else is waiting for it. Previously, DVDs could only be renewed once, and all other items could be renewed twice. Loan periods remain at one week for DVDs and three weeks for all other items.
Our hope is that, by simplifying our policies and streamlining the fines, borrowing limits, and renewals, we can cut down on confusion, while giving you plenty of time to view every episode of your favorite TV shows and not feel hurried to finish that big book you checked out!
Swing by to check out some items and give our new borrowing and renewing limits a test drive. Also, it’s not too late to sign up for our kids’ summer reading program, or to pick up your copy of Don Quixote to read along with our adult summer reading program! We hope to see you soon!
UCPL is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Visit our website at www.ucitylibrary.org, and keep checking Patch for more articles from your library!
