I married Lori The Silver Lady 11 years ago, so I’ve been in this business for 11 years. In a previous life, I was a plumbing rep. When we got married I stayed with my job, until one Sunday she had tickets to a football game and she said, “none of my girls can work, you’re in”. I’m an engineer; I don’t know anything about jewelry. She replied, “You’ll be ok, you’ll learn”. And I fell in love with it.
· Where do you buy your jewelry?

We buy finished pieces from around the world; nobody local. We hand pick everything and go to the gem shows and trade shows, to find the best products for the customers.
· What do you do to market and advertise the business?
I do all the social media including our website, Facebook, Pinterest, and tweets. I do it all. We advertise with magazines, the Chamber of Commerce, the Pride, Alive, and other outlets.
· A lot of people sell jewelry. What distinguishes you from the competition?
Most people don’t sell silver jewelry. If you go into a jeweler they’re not going to know the stones we deal with everyday, nor can they work on silver. We have well-trained staff that are certified and trained with stones. Our store carries unique items that you just are not going to find everywhere. Overall, it’s our selection, our pricing and there’s something to be said about being in business for 27 years. We wouldn’t be around if we didn’t take good care of our customers.
· Do you plan on diversifying your selection at all?
Yes, once I finish my gemology degree we plan on doing estate sale jewelry, appraisals, and consignments on things that aren’t ours. I am actually enrolled in my last class for my degree at the Gem Institute of California, which will take about 2 years, and after that I will be able to identify pretty much anything. There is a lot that goes into this other than “oh that’s a pretty blue”.
